Welcome to Swift Current Knights of Columbus Council 3031

In March of 1945 a young Catholic Priest, Reverand Lionel Mondor, of Willow Bunch, arrived in Swift Current to perform his duties of Assistant Priest to Father Cabanel at Sacred Heart Parish. Father Mondor had previously been initiated into the Knights of Columbus at Plentywood, Montana on November 26, 1939 and in 1941 became Grand Knight of Willow Bunch council and was also appointed State Chaplain for Saskatchewan. Father Mondor had the great ambition to establish a Knights of Columbus soon after his arrival in Swift Current. Swift Current council was a 'sub-council' of Moose Jaw and many Practical Catholic men were initiated through Moose Jaw from early 1945 to 1946. After many meetings and more initiations the dream to establish a Knights of Columbus Council in Swift Current was realized on March 23, 1947.
