FIFTH ANNUAL FATHER'S DAY MARATHON (SATURDAY JUNE 19, 2010 - 8:00 A.M.) Register & Info

The Fifth Annual Knights of Columbus Charity Marathon is planned for an 8:00 am start on June 19, 2010. The 2010 run proceeds will be donated to the Swift Current Special Olympics Atheletes.  The run will start from the Riverdene Park, proceed east to 13th Avenue N.E., south on 13th Avenue N.E. to Bell Street then north on 19th Avenue to Hill Crest Drive and then north to Elm Wood Place and return on the Chinook walk way there-in utilizing the walk way through the City Parks and Golf Courses to the south west area of the City and onto Hayes Drive and Marston Street before re-entering the walk way to return to Riverdene Park.  
 
The marathon is open to 5 Km walkers and the more dedicated runners undertaking the 5 km, 10 km and half marathon (21 km) run. The 5 km and 10 km course is walker and runner friendly aimed at maximizing support for the charity project, while the half Marathon will test the more serious runners who will see another side of what Swift Current has to offer the running community.

The support from the City of Swift Current Parks Department for the use of the Chinook walkway and facilities such as the public washrooms at Riverdeen Park, Elmwood Park and Riverside Park is most appreciated. 

On Marathon Day the Knights will be securing various volunteers from within their ranks as well as school aged children and the general public interested in making the event a success.

Leading up to the event sponsors from within the business community and service groups will be sought thus allowing maximum funding to be directed to Charity needs.

The running community and local sponsors of the event will be giving the Knights of Columbus the resources to carry out Charity work for the betterment of the total community.
